I just made this and noticed there is no leavening in the ingredients. So it basically made pancakes, I think too dense to soak up the jelly which I think is the point.

So easy and always comes out perfectly. It is suprisingly rich for such a simple recipe. This has become my husband's favorite cake. Sometimes I skip the glaze and just sprinkle powdered sugar on top to save even more time.
